Oh, Jeff.

Jeffrey came home the other day after seeing a panel of people who had made actual money writing. He was excited because they told him it was possible to earn money writing in Logan. "What if I could do that for a summer job?" I was nice to him, but basically told him to keep looking for an ACTUAL job. He said he would, but wouldn't it be great if he could do something he loved? Oh, Jeff.

Yesterday, I was talking to my friends, the Goates. Vienna is also a creative writing major. Jeff had already told her about his great idea for finding a summer job where he could write. Oh, Jeff. What a silly guy. We talked about how cool it would be if there were actually jobs like that and how excited I was for Jeff to work at Chilis.

While I was talking to the Goates, I got a text from Jeff. "Call me, I've got incredible news." So I called him, fully expecting the news to be that a professor liked something he wrote. Oh, Jeff. Turns out I was kind of right, but only kind of.

Jeff had just finished a meeting with one of the members of his thesis committee, Dr. Koybaeva. Dr. Koybaeva is the only real Russian professor that the university has and she's pretty prestigous. She's a Harvard and Stanford fellow, among other things. Anyway, she read Jeff's article on Mozambique and loved it so much she cried. She read it three times before realizing that she knew the author.

Jeff came in to discuss his thesis, and left with this: Dr. Koybaeva offered him a job editing her book. She also wants to co-author some things with Jeff. Apparently, she has tons of ideas on Russian-American relations mulling around, but felt like she didn't have the right literary voice for the project. She really wants Jeff to work for her and she really wants to help Jeff in the academic world of Russian Studies.

So it looks life Jeff found a summer job writing after all.

Can I just say something??

Oh, Jeff.

Loved the story! I didn't know the Carr's were such giving, volunteering people. That is amazing! I've always wanted to go to Africa and volunteer or South America. But I never can save enough money. That's awesome that he got a job writing! That Lady really must like him. Congrats for him! :)

That's great! I always think it is best to do something you love. It gives you motivation, you have passion and the results are much richer. (both in money and satisfaction)
Chase your dreams and passions!! They pay off!

Don't you just hate it when your husband finds A WAY COOLER summer job than you do - This happens to me every summer. Good for Jeff, though :) yay!
