Harvard?

I have a quick wit and loads of pop-culture knowledge, but Jeff is smart. Really smart. He graduated with a pretty darn good GPA and honors, but we've been holding our breath about where he'll be headed to grad school until today. Today Jeffrey took the GRE, the general grad school admission test. (It's like the LSAT GMAT or MCAT for people who aren't going to be lawyers, businessmen or doctors.)

It's always been Jeff's dream to go to Harvard. He got in when he was a freshman, but chose to go on a mission instead. Harvard, like a flighty woman, would not wait for him. I'm glad he decided to just finish here at USU, obviously. If he had gone to Harvard, he'd probably be married to some successful person/nerd.

Well, here we are. Harvard's requirements are a 600 on BOTH the verbal and math sections of the GRE. This is not an easy feat, the national average in the verbal section is 470, the math average is 610. Jeff got ....

I just want to heighten the suspense, thus increasing your reading pleasure....

Jeff got....

680 on Verbal!

and

740 on Math!

These are amazing scores considering the average grad school applicant gets at least a hundred points less on each section!

Let's hear it for Jeff!

Go Jeff! That is absolutely incredible. I am proud to say that I know Jeffrey Steven Carr! (I'm also glad to know you too Sarah.) I am so glad that things are going well for you. David took the GMAT this summer so I know how intense the waiting can be! Good luck!

Wow... how does it feel to be married to such a smart guy? Way to go! Let us know where you hear back from. Would that mean he might be paid to attend for a masters? I mean, they should... if he's that much higher than the average... (I'm all about school being paid for... it seems sad they usually only pay for PhD). By the by though, you're both smart! Sarah... even if you didn't take the GRE yet, you express yourself eloquently and articulately... so there.

It doesn't sound that impressive when you put it that way: above average! Oh well, thanks for doing my public bidding anyway, I guess.

(Sarah's still the #1 smartest girl I've ever met at this university. I don't know if there are smarter guys or not--I never really looked.)
